At this week’s LiFEst, Ps. Pathi talked about the Greatest Commandment – Love, which can be found in Matthew 22:34-40 and Mark 12:28-34.
God gave us the command to love others because the ability to do so does not come from us, but from God Himself (1 John 4:19). Through Him, we have the ability to love even those who are deemed unlovable.
In Matthew 22:37, Jesus instructs us to love God with all our “heart, soul and mind”. Most of the time, this does not come naturally to us and requires practice. This can be done by spending time with Him – reading His Word and praying.
So how do we love God? We love God by:
- Keeping God’s Commandments (John 13:34-35)
- Loving God’s Family (John 13:34-35)
- Loving God’s Temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
- Loving God’s Environment (Genesis 2:15)
- Loving the Community
Let us heed the Greatest Commandment and move forward in learning how to love as Jesus instructed!
