Primulapathi (or “Pathi” as he is known), was born in Penang, Malaysia, and was educated at Penang Free School, the oldest school in South East Asia.
He attended Sunday School at the Taylor Road Sunday School (now Island Glades Gospel Centre) from the age 5. Although he had learnt and memorized much of the Bible, it was not until he was 17 years old that the real meaning of the gospel and what Jesus did impacted his life.
Coming from a Hindu family, there was always a fear of offending the ‘gods’ of his family as he was taught that offending them will result in having to do some penance.
The fact that Jesus paid it all and that one has to do nothing to gain His favor really touched him and he gave his heart to the Lord. He was baptized at Burmah Road Gospel Hall in 1976.
Pathi eventually came to Kuala Lumpur to further his studies and there, had the opportunity to grow in the Lord through “Varsity Christian Fellowship (VCF)” and the church in PJ.
After graduation, Pathi was employed by the Department of Chemistry, where he worked as a forensic scientist. He was posted to Ipoh and there, he attended Elim Gospel Hall, before he was transferred to Kuala Terengganu.
He was then transferred back to Petaling Jaya in 1985, where he served faithfully at Petaling Jaya Evangelical Free Church until he and his family moved to Klang in 2011, after Pathi retired in 2010.
Pathi is married to Usha and they have two children: Prashna, who is practicing medicine in New Zealand and Prakash, a recent chemical-engineering graduate.
Pathi is currently employed as a part-time lecturer–lecturing in Forensic Science at the School of Health Sciences of University of Science Malaysia.
Pathi is currently serving as the pastor of the children’s and youth ministries and is involved in the cell-group ministry at BethanyLife. Outside the local church, he is also the children’s supervisor of Bible Study Fellowship Klang (BSF) and is a council member of Scripture Union, Peninsular Malaysia.
In his spare time he enjoys reading and assembling items like computers and gadgets. He is an ardent fan of Liverpool Football Club and hopes to visit Anfield Stadium one day. He, specifically, does NOT like vegetables except potatoes (which he insists is a vegetable). His wife’s homemade upside down pineapple cake is the best thing he’s ever tasted!
